The Green Economics Institute’s Major Activities at COP26
The Green Economics Institute and GEI Climate will have a major presence at COP26 with 2 full time exhibition stands, 1 official side event and speaker panels twice a day with high profile speakers and delegates from around the world.
We will be hosting a number of events. You can sign up for each of the activities- to take part, to attend, to speak or to help or support them via our eventbrite links which will be posted here shortly.
We have a GEI CHARTER-1, Charter of Demands ( see bottom of this page for full text) for the UN COP26 Glasgow Climate Treaty- The COP26 United Nations Climate Treaty- We have participants from all over the world all backgrounds and all cultures- in one of the largest and most diverse delegations.
Our delegation includes MPs, former MPs, MEPs, Members of the House of Lords, students, older people, younger people, professors, Ministers,NGos, Indigenous peoples, and activities and many many more people from all over the world. It is 30% from Africa,Asia, etc 65% women etc and important intersectional, feminist and LGBT+ delegates.
It is one of the biggest delegations and will play a scientific role in the COP.

Our Green Economics Institute’s Charter of Demands for COP 26
To save the climate for everyone and everything on the planet and its systems which support life on earth we ask for the following at COP26:
Green Economics Institute Delegation: Ambition for COP26
We have 10 years to save the climate and to change to a matrifocal, diverse inclusive species or risk our own extinction. Equity is the price of survival: Diversity in all things is the sign of a healthy planet and a healthy peoples.
1. Implement the Paris COP21 Agreement in Full : All NDCs to be commensurate with 1.5 degrees. (NDCs are Nationally Determined Contributions)
Implement the Paris COP21 Agreement in Full : All NDCs to be commensurate with 1.5 degrees. To provide an international court to sanction any nation contravening the Paris Agreement or not moving to the banning and phasing out of fossil fuels by 2025. To create a new energy council and international court under the UNFCCC with legally binding powers to implement the phase out and roll it out globally in small scale projects. To change all building regs to renewables.To revamp all economics courses to reflect the new realities of inclusion, feminism and diversity and 1.5 degrees as the new guard rail of climate change. To switch immediately all transport to renewables or ban it from 2025.
2.Keep the climate to within 1.5 degrees and plan and manage to never exceed it
Everyone on the planet to halve their carbon use within 3 years by 2025- To agree that the psychological change is now the most urgent thing and that media and other state institutions need to start to acknowledge this and ramp up psychological resources in all countries for a culture shift as big as the advent of agriculture 10,000 years ago in the way humans live their lives. To mobilise art, science and culture and literature to engage the public in the forthcoming changes and how to slow them down.
3. To agree and finalise and implement fully- Loss and Damage
To acknowledge that inequality poverty and starvation is a failing of the human project and shames us all -and its time to put an end to it- most recently seen in vaccine inequality. To ensure that the wealthiest countries are never more than 3 times as wealthy as the poorest overall and per capita and to share the worlds resources equally among people -and also to share the worlds remaining carbon budget equally among people. ( individuals).
To agree to a mechanism to compensate those countries who will loose their land -according to how much they have contributed to carbon usage over time To ensure all nations provide the $500billion now required by less developed countries for conversion.
To agree that climate migration is a better alternative than resource wars and to plan for it quantifying who will take how many climate migrants in before they become refugees. To plan for water shortages and to plan to provide enough water and resources in countries most affected by climate change. To plan according to the sicence as the climate impacts come in in terms of drought, heat exhaustion flooding, inundation to plan in a realistic way.
. To varying degrees we all share responsibility and guilt. Some of the chief architects, of climate denial production of emissions and fossil fuel are growing older and it is the responsibility of people today to ensure that justice is done.
There may be parallels to draw between this and the Nuremberg Trials, and whilst the intent of genocide is not there, the numbers who will die as a result of climate change will be greater.
4. To agree and finalise all aspects of the Paris rule book
A)To finalise agreement on transparency under the Paris COP21 agreement
B)To agree to 5 yearly monitoring or more frequently as the climate change speeds up
5. To agree a new clause or treaty that any climate solution has to be gendered, inclusive, diverse, and feminist
Accept and embrace the facts that women are not the main cause- but receive the worst impacts of climate change and also are the best leaders out of the mess. All countries to start to implement a minimum of 50% gender balance of women -in all aspects and bodies and activities of public life as the best way out of the culture of 10,000 years of toxic destructive masculinity which has led to the pathway of rapid extinction of humanity and nature on the planet and the disruption of its life sustaining systems.
To prevent suffering as a result of climate change
To avoid a cultural and actual genocide of the peoples and culture in the worst affected regions of Africa, Asia and S America over the next 100 years.
6. To agree to a new clause that actual renewables -and small scale energy heating lighting and air con need to become the most dominant sources by 2025-
7. The phasing out of all fossil fuels including nuclear by 2025 as a complete human energy shift as an emergency to solve the crisis.
8. Companies to shift to a fast ambitious energy transition as an emergency and entirely stop hurting animals and wiping out wildlife
As part of the energy shift- the worlds 200 most carbon increasing companies must shut down or transfer their activities to a transition by 2025 or be sanctioned to that effect by the new global legal climate court in the clause above.
9. Shift in agriculture and food production and our relationship with all other species
To agree that regular frequent meat eating must become a thing of the past and that all cultures must move to a 100% plant based diet by 2025.
10. To establish a Climate Truth and Reparation Tribunal
To agree the basis for creating records for future generations who will suffer the consequence of climate change. Establishing the specific first measure of justice and sanctions against companies, governments and individuals who by acts of commission, omissions or obfuscation caused an increase in CO2e missions or prevented a reduction in those emissions.
